Strange Fruit

A quick post now and a longer one later. . .

I would love to know what this is - is it a seed pod or some kind of fruit? If it helps, Greensboro is in Zone 7b and I found it in a shaded garden.

Bueller . . .Bueller . . .Anyone?

It's an Osage orange. We use them in arrangements. Some claim they have bug repelling properties and keep them in dark corners and under their bed. If only they repelled dust...

I see that you will be my go-to person on all botanical identification. Saw that you ID'ed Rachel's twig, too. Chef, florist, writer extraordinaire, you do it all!
